Special Science Newsletter

Special Science Newsletter

Afternoon everyone,

Here is our extra special edition of the newsletter to celebrate our ‘We Love Science Books’ event. We hope you have enjoyed the last few days in school, taking part in science investigations and dressing up in science-themed outfits!

We have also made a fun science wordsearch, which has a list of lots of different science-based jobs that you could do when you are older.

Have a lovely half-term,

From Miss ‘astronaut’ Phimister

Bloodhound SSC

Bloodhound SSC

Yesterday a visitor from the company Arco came into school to tell Year 6 all about the new development of Bloodhound Super Sonic Car. This is being developed by a team of British scientists and engineers who are hoping to beat the current land speed record held by Thrust SSC. They are hoping that Bloodhound will reach speeds of over 1000mph. Year 6 built their own balloon powered (non)supersonic cars and raced them. It was a fantastic afternoon.

Year 3 Erupting

Year 3 Erupting

Year 3 have been learning about volcanoes. They have visited the lab where they have tried out an investigation with their model volcanoes. They used vinegar and baking powder to make a reaction and used different amounts to find out if the size of their “eruption” changed. We also investigated the stickiness of different sorts of lava to see if it would change the shape of a volcano.
